From Nostalgia to New Beginnings: How Digital Latte Repositioned Kumar Resort

For every Millennial in Mumbai and Pune, Kumar Resort was the weekend destination in the late 90s and early 2000s. Known for its legendary water park, rain dance, thrilling rides, and vibrant weekend getaways, Kumar Resort was synonymous with fun and family time. Over the years, however, as new resorts and theme parks emerged, Kumar Resort's charm faded. The property aged, the brand lost relevance, and nostalgia was all that remained.

In 2023, Turtle Resorts took over the management of the property, with a mission to revive and reposition this once-iconic name. The property underwent a complete transformation; renovated rooms, upgraded dining experiences, modern amenities, and renewed hospitality - without losing its nostalgic essence.

The challenge wasn't just about promoting a refurbished property - it was about rekindling emotions. The brand had to remind people why Kumar Resort was special and invite them to experience it anew.

The Insight

Everyone has a Kumar Resort story.

A childhood family trip. A college getaway. A monsoon memory. Those shared memories were our strongest creative currency. From that first rain dance to the school picnic, the summer vacation getaway to the last-minute Lonavala trip - Kumar Resort was part of countless memories.

The team realized nostalgia could be a powerful bridge between past and present. By evoking these emotional connections, they could create a renewed sense of attachment, curiosity, and belonging.

The Idea: #ReliveYourMemories

Our campaign was built around a simple, powerful truth: Reimagining nostalgia for a new generation, where memories meet a modern experience.

We invited people to #ReliveYourMemories at the new Kumar Resort - to return to the place that made their childhood epic, and make new memories all over again.

The campaign turned memories into marketing. We tapped into emotional throwbacks, influencer stories, and real guest content to make people say, "Wait, Kumar Resort is back?"
