IGTV: Everything a marketer should know

Unless you have been living under a rock, you would know that Instagram launched it’s brand new video platform – IGTV. IGTV is a new space to be creative and engage your audience with longer videos.
If you are still wondering how to set up an IGTV channel and what are the best practices to create one, look no further.
Why IGTV: By 2021, mobile video will account for 78% of total mobile data traffic and Instagram is betting on this feature with the launch of IGTV.
Setting up an IGTV Channel:
1. Tap on the IGTV icon on your Instagram app (above the Insta stories bar)

2. Tap on your avatar
3. Click on the Upload video link or the + icon to select and add a video from your phone gallery
4. Add title, description to your video. You can also edit the cover photo of your video.
5. Click the post button
After you’ve posted yourIGTV video, you’ll notice the IGTV icon in the highlights row of your profile. Tapping on this icon will take any user to your IGTV channel.
Best practices for IGTV:
1. Hashtags: Add relevant keywords/hashtags to your video description to make it easier for people to find your videos on IGTV.
2. Add Clickable Links: You can also add in links to your video description as a Call to Action and redirect traffic to any website or URL of your choice
3. Cover Photo: Add a custom cover photo, or choose a catchy thumbnail from your video.
What do you need to know:
1. IGTV supports minimum 15 seconds vertical videos and can run up to 60 minutes.
2. IGTV videos can be up to 10 minutes long, and larger accounts can upload videos up to 1 hour long.
3. You can only have one IGTV channel per Instagram account.
4. To view your IGTV video insights, tap on the 3-dot button on any video on your channel and select the Insights option.
